books

Because I'm interested in publishing I'm thinking about making book covers / inside illustrations for the books I read over summer. Currently I'm making my way through The Waves (Virginia Woolf) and The Man In The High Castle (Philip K Dick), and am also interested in making illustrations for After Dark (my favourite Murakami, still feels relevant after studying him so much in level 5) and A Clockwork Orange (didn't end up doing the Penguin brief but enjoyed the book... as much as one can enjoy it).

I don't plan on making these as a cohesive series, just what works for each book individually. It would also show a range of my skills and ideas rather than trying to squeeze together a bunch of books that don't even match. This project will also be a cool test of my lettering/ type skills.

On a similar theme I could also definitely run with a Secret-7 style project for album covers but my focus is on books right now, mostly because it seems to be the more suitable for my portfolio.
